[Update] Velvet Tweak V 1.3 – Supports iOS 14 Now
With the latest Velvet Tweak version 1.3, the developer has primarily focused on bringing iOS 14 support to the tweak along with some additional features. Following is the complete set of features for the same apart from iOS 14 support.
- Force light/dark mode as far as notifications are concerned.
- Under Classic Mode, you can utilize a gradient now for the background of the header.
- Improved readability -> The tweak will automatically adjust the text to black/white upon using a background color.
- Earlier users reported that banners are not having a header or a border on iOS 14. This issue is fixed by the developer.
- Smart charging notifications now incorporate modern style.
[Update] – Velvet Tweak v 1.4 – Use Contact Picture Instead of App Icon
With Velvet Tweak v 1.4, you can opt to utilize a contact picture in place of the application icon for the apps supported by the tweak. To enable you to identify the application from where the notification has come, you can add a mini app icon to the contact picture as well. Check out the following image.
Please note that this new feature works for iMessage and WhatsApp. However, on iMessage, the same doesn’t support group conversations as of now. You can even choose to set up a border for the contact picture. The same can be either automatic in accordance with the color of the app icon or can be manually selected.
[Update] – Velvet Tweak v1.5 – Now See Avatars for Discord, Instagram & Twitter
In the latest Velvet v 1.5 update, the support for contact picture in notifications, that was previously available only for iMessage and WhatsApp, is extended further to Discord, Instagram, and Twitter. The catch is that you need to be connected to the internet for the avatars to be fetched.
Though there’s a toggle available in the Settings through which you can stop the tweak from connecting to the internet for loading avatars. However, this way, the contact picture support will work only for iMessage and WhatsApp.
As far as contact picture support for Twitter is concerned, the same is fairly experimental and it works only for DMs. Moreover, since an external service is being utilized to fetch avatars, it might take a few seconds after the notification has arrived for the avatar to load.
Other than the extension of the contact picture support, the long awaited compact mode is a part of the update as well. The compact mode reduces the total paddings for the notifications thereby allowing more notifications to fit neatly on the screen at once.
Following is a changelog for the latest Velvet Tweak v1.5 update:
- Compact mode for the notifications.
- Contact picture support extended to Discord, Instagram, and Twitter.
- Alignment and padding is overhauled for all the elements.
- Flickering that used to happen while activating dark/light mode is fixed.
- Set dark mode only for the media player.
